9. tough decision.
the one I chose did a good job of showing how the structure interacts with its environment. I'm sure the architect considered the canvas on which his design would be painted. I like the composition too. The clouds are an essential element of the image.

to the photographer of the Gris Mill: I knew it would do well. Art is subjective. What you may find as a negative could be what hooks another viewer. It brings out the nine year old in me. The photo spoke to me, and it appears it has to others. Sometimes we are the worst judges of our own works.

10. I can't believe that two excellent photos have not
received any votes yet. One smacks you in the face with form and color and is of National Geographic quality, the other has excellent composition and seems to understand the subject well. It's the photo, not the building.

It seems that more good photographers have joined in, and that we have helped each other to become better at photographers.

19. I really like that aspect of the photo group, too.
I've learned SO much by hanging out there, especially about digital photography. I'm still a film snob at heart, but can't resist the instant gratification of the digital. :)

20. Digital is the way to go for us poor slobs. The upfront costs are
higher for quality boxes, but over time they are much cheaper. If most of what you do it the internet or 8X10 or smaller, a 5mp is fine

I don't like the shutter lag. That's the only thing I don't like about digital. Of course shutter lag is no problem if shooting still life.

24. Yes, shutter lag sucks, but
I've found that I can bypass that by setting the camera on continuous shooting mode. This has worked well in many of my bird shots, in particular. Great clarity of wing motion in flight.

16. My favourite didn't make it. Most here are photos of nice
buildings... but "new reflecting the old" is much more than just a picture of something nice. It showed intuition and reflection and a good sense of balance.

I guess of these here "60s reflection" will make it. These colours are always great, and everything else about this picture is good, too.

43. I would think that, if there's a tie, there's a tie...
...just like at the Academy Awards. This isn't an election for office, where only one person can be President, Governor, or Mayor.

The only question would be how the two "winners" would divide up the duties of running the next contest. But we've already seen one contest/challenge (December) co-run by two members, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

...especially lakemonster11, F.Gordon, intheflow, and CC, for convincing me to enter a photo I thought was too abstract to qualify as "architectural photography"...

...and to superconnected, for introducing me to the Photography Group, and persuading me to enter the contests...

...and, finally, to paisley, for her love and support, and tolerance (most of the time) when I take the camera along to one place or another, knowing that she's likely to lose me for an hour or so.

And my congratulations to the other finalists, especially priller, for a stunning contest debut, and the always excellent Blue_In_AK and RadFemFL.
