Oh my- the Pioneer PL-518 Turntable sure is nice!

Someone, on some other thread a few months ago, suggested the PL-518, the old one, as the turntable to get. So, by golly, after much rummaging, I found one in beautiful still-have-original-box quality. I just unpacked it, and, wow, the memories it brings back of turntable days, which I have done without for 15 years.

Now I need some help - I have a new stereo that doesn't have phono inputs. The turntable is old, and so of course still puts out the old style signal.

What do I need to connect this puppy to my stereo?

I thought I had bookmarked that old thread, but alas, I had not.

4. Does your stereo has an AUX input?

If so, I think you can buy phono to AUX connectors. But I'm not sure if you'd need a pre-amplifier to do this.

8. You can plug it into any rca audio input

on the receiver or amp. Make sure you ground it. The needle dragging on vinyl creates static electricity.

"RIAA" curve ..which means, the bass was recorded very low while the highs were recorded
very high.

Your phono cartridge won't drive an amplifiers inputs.

Radio Shack used to have a decent phono preamp. If they do not anymore, you may have to search for one. Try Ebay.
