We have a Brazilian travel agent, and Mrs. Squeech haggles pretty well in Portuguese.

Where are you starting out from? The cheapest flights to Brazil AFAIK are out of NYC or Miami. And most of our trips actually involve flying into Sao Paolo and catching a local flight to Rio; see if that saves you anything.

Hope this helps. I'm very fond of Brazil, and that's where I expect to settle if this really turns into Republic of Gilead.

I've walked upon five continents. I was planning a trip to Argentina last year. But the with limited time, I realised I would spend a lot of time on marathon busses. If I had a more open ended schedule (like in my wandering days of past), I'd do it. Now I don't want to return to work burned out.

My initial search was just on the spur of the moment, but I'm glad I posted because people are giving me all I kinds of ideas. I am somewhat limited by when I can get on a plane and go anywhere, because inbetween classes/semester/summer terms is best, but I do have some flexibility.

As you can see from this thread, there are ways around the limitations. Do research and save your money and you can get trips into your regular hectic life. It is a matter of prioritization as well, of course. Sometimes other things just have to take precedence.

Clean, fun, eucalyptis trees, great restaurants and then you can travel out into the rest of the country - the outback, for instance, but remember, everything is much farther from everything else there!

I enjoyed London, too. Much older city, though.
