http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/14191447.htmThe reward is up to $24,000 in the search for a motorist who savagely ran down and killed 11 ducks at Campbell's popular Delta Queen Classic Car Wash pond, a store manager said. ``Some day this person is going to get caught,'' said Mike Davis. The reward was $200 just after Aug. 5, when the bizarre massacre was discovered, but donations from around the world have pushed it into the thousands of dollars.
Delta Queen surveillance cameras captured images of a young man corralling ducks from the carwash pond after midnight, and running them over repeatedly with a red, two-door Acura Integra -- before speeding away.
Grim video of the incident made television news around the globe. But the car license plate was illegible in the video, and Campbell police said no tips have panned out in identifying the killer. ``Occasionally we get a new lead,'' Capt. Russ Patterson said Friday.
Spring brought a brace of new ducklings to the pond at 981 E. Hamilton Ave., where over three decades, the flock had grown to about two dozen. . With 15 ducks surviving the attack and six new ducklings hatched earlier this month, the flock is up to 21. ``We've set up more surveillance cameras since it all happened,'' Davis said.
