His actual name was Temujin, IIRC. At least it was before he became the Kha Khan.

8. In Turkey it's pronounced "Jengis"...
...spelled "Cengis" in Turkish. A lot of males in Turkic-speaking countries are named Cengis, assumedly in honor of their Mongol heritage.

it used to be written 'Jenghiz', not 'Genghis'.

Oh, and the 'kh' sound in 'Khan' is properly pronounced from the throat, like the 'ch' in Scottish 'loch', not as a hard 'K'.
