My horse is really pissed off

I think she's trying to tell me that the new neighbors are Republicans.

Mona Lisa is all Arab: the kind that would sleep in the tent with the family if she lived in the desert, the kind you take into battle.

Some of you might remember the new neighbors I bitched about a while back. They mysteriously left for months, but now they are back. Understand that my animals have been out here pretty much alone in the woods with us. Our nearest neighbors can barely be seen on one side and they're gone half the year, the other side's neighbors are well down the road.

Today, the noisiest pack of younguns rode their bikes up and down in front of the house. They screamed. They carried on. There were at least six kids and bikes. Now, these woods are quiet most of the time, so it was an unaccustomed racket for us all. My son and I joked that if this was the jungle, they'd have been eaten hours ago :evilgrin:

The dogs had to stay locked up in the house so I wouldn't hear the constant barking, but I had to take the mare out because her mane was a tangled mess.

She pitched a fit, tried to tear down the porch, looked in their direction and pawed the ground like a rototiller, first with the left hoof, then with the right, and snorted and pranced like she was ready to kick some butt.

She respects me, so I managed to keep her safe, but when I thought I heard one of the folks across the way mention Sean Hannity, I felt bile rise in my throat and I almost wanted to turn Mona loose. She would have loved nothing more than to have run around them and kicked up her heels :kick: and blown snot on them and basically terrorized them all.

Mona Lisa does not like Republicans. I hope this is not why she is pissed at the new neighbors. I really can't take it....:banghead:

3. Mona sounds like a cool horsey

The court I go to in Pomona is right down the street from the Cal Poly campus where they breed Arabians... after court I usually stop and stand at the fence and admire them and say hi.

They are very into their people. But Mona has always had 'tude.

Thanks for the kind words for my girl. She is not a happy camper these days, but I imagine she'll get over it.

I do admit I have a healthy fear of horses after being cornered by one once in a stable and nearly crushed but I love to talk to them..there's a poster here BeHereNow who lives right up the road from the stables at Griffith Park and we go talk to the horseys too!

And that's a great story. Horses are much wiser than most people think .... sounds like your lovely lady has some good character. I've been in love with Arabians ever since seeing "The Black Stallion."

Draft breeding means she also especially sweet, i bet. We had Percherons for a while and I loved those big babies.

I think the fruitcakes are here to stay. They are Floridians, and kind of not real bright as far as the living in the woods thing. I don't know how they will do living close to my critters.

My other mare is real sweet and gentle but she is the one who busts out. Mona is a good girl who stays put and bleats and screams to tattle on Sass.

Well, Sass is "in season" and she got out two days ago ( she is a freaking genius about escaping, I swear. We used to have one of those Mighty mule gates and no matter how we configured the switch, she could trip it. We put it inside a little electrical box and she learned to use her tongue to flip it!). My other neighbors are used to my quirky mare, and of course I have caught their horses, goats, etc, but now I am going to have to take my (HA) digital camera money and buy some decent gates.

I built some neat ones but I have no time to do the rest now. Pooh.

I was trying valiently to distract her. Her mane is over a foot long in places and she had the Rasta thing going on pretty bad :) But oh, she did not want to have any beauty treatments today!

The last horse I rode (in Utah) was an Arabian. Not exceptionally friendly but fast as hell!

Been missin you! My spring break is over and it hardly began and there was NO SPRING!!! It spit snow at my attempts at outdoor work! :scared:

Palominos are one of my favorite color horses. I used to ride one named Gypsy on the St. John's river when I lived in Jacksonville. She loved to wade into the river and pop the hyacinths and ignore my attempts to yank her head out of the water.

Now, I'm hittin the hay. Back at the Pub soon enough :cry:

Arabs are so beautiful. My cousins each have an Araba stud. Those guys are awesome.

I've got an Oldenburg filly named Cotton. She'll be three in May of this year. I just adore my horse and horses in general. :)

Have you tried Cowboy Magic detangler for Mona's mane and tail? I swear by it. It detangles and repels dirt and UV rays.

I've got pictures of Cotton in my DU journal. She's a bay too!
