Have you ever heard of the sport "skijoring"? It is comprised by a human on cross country skis being pulled by one or more dogs. Looks like a heck of a lot of fun. There is a movement to get skijoring accepted as an Olympic sport.

6. Well, since this thread was revived, here's the answer...

The 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid included dog sled racing, but only as a demonstration sport. A Canadian team won it, with a Norwegian coming in second and a Russian team came in third. The 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo also included dog sled racing as a demonstration sport, but this time as a "pulka" race, where the driver accompanies the dogs on skis behind a toboggan or pulka. In the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, there was a demonstration of the sport, but it was apparently more of an exhibition rather than an actual race.
In 1992, the International Federation of Sleddog Sports was incorporated as a way to focus the efforts of many national, local and international organizations on the goal of Olympic recognition and alignment of mushing with other mainstream sports through the General Association of International Sports Federations. So, there is still some hope that it might become an Olympic sport sometime in the future.
