Two more dead dogs were discovered in eastern Washtenaw County Sunday, bringing the total to seven in 10 days, and sending a scare through the region.

Hunters discovered a cocker spaniel shot in the back of the head around 10 a.m. in Superior Township Sunday morning. Humane Society investigators responded and found a second dead dog, a pit bull puppy, whose neck and legs were bound with twine.

The Humane Society has been the lead investigator in the killings and the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office will assign a detective today to assist with the case.

The dogs were not decapitated like other dogs found recently in the same area, said Tanya Hilgendorf, executive director of the Humane Society of Huron Valley.

I hate that people do such things. When we lived in Denver some horrible person was lacing meat with antifreeze and throwing it into backyards, randomly killing pets. I'm glad Jessie is OK. (We had a sheltie when I was younger, he was the sweetest most loving dog, his name was Sonny).I agree with you about punishment, ugly (on the inside) people do ugly things.:hi:

The decapitation leads me to believe that whoever is doing this thinks they are serving satan. I used to work with delinquents, killing animals is part of the satanic thing some of them (always white, suburban kids) do to piss off their parents. If it's somebody's beloved pet, the animal has more value to satan, in the kids' opinions. It's more of a sacrifice than killing a stray is.

If it was one county over (Livingston), I'd be pretty sure it was the cult in Gregory (read Ze'ev Chavets' book "Devil's Night and Other True Stories Of Detroit"), which is a bit more organized than teenage satanists. I don't think those nuts would leave evidence behind, however.

Don't get me wrong-I do not believe that satan really exists. I do believe evil does, and when kids give their energy, time and brains over to it, then the results are just as bad as if satan really did exist. I hope the authorities catch them soon.

I can't even express the sorrow and rage this makes me feel. The total love and loyalty that humans receive from their dogs(and other pets,but dogs especially)is one of the most wonderful things in this world. I can't find it in myself to believe there is much hope for a "human" being who would do such a thing...it is just pure evil,which is a word I rarely use. When found,the perp(s) need to be put away for a very long time(like for eternity).
