NEW YORK (AP) -- Scarlett Johansson tops a lovely list of the "100 Sexiest Women in the World," in a poll of readers by FHM magazine.

"One of the best things for a woman to hear is that she is sexy," the 21-year-old actress, star of "Match Point" and "Lost in Translation," said in a statement. "I'd like to thank FHM's readers for the huge compliment."

Angelina Jolie is No. 2 on the list, followed by Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Keira Knightley, Halle Berry, Jenny McCarthy, Maria Sharapova, Carmen Electra and Teri Hatcher.

Johansson ranked ninth on last year's list. Jolie was No. 1.

"It's remarkable how Scarlett Johansson has caught the attention of our readers," said Scott Gramling, the magazine's U.S. editor in chief, in a statement. "Her sultry voice and striking beauty certainly have a lot to do with that, but so does the confidence she exudes."

"She seems to be one of those women who would be equally at ease on the red carpet as she would just hanging out with the guys."

The magazine's May issue goes on sale April 4.

We each have on eor two celebs that we could have a fling with no questions asked. Obviously it is not going to happen, but I keep Drew Barrymore and Alyssa Milano on my list. I asked if I could add Scarlett after the Golden Globes and she let me, but she gets to add another guy to her list. She has Ed Harris and Bruce Willis, but has not told me of the tird guy yet.

As for Scarlett, I disagree that she is a Jenny come lately. She has a throwback look tha tI find very sexy. She also has a great deal fo talent. I put her at the top of the current holloywood star list in terms of sex appeal, so she gets sexiest in my book. Love these subjective views though. Everyone is correct.

I get a lot of hell from my friends on Angelina. They think I am the only person, man or woman, who would not give their arm for a chance to bed Ms. Jolie-Pitt (did they get married last weekend, I heard some rumors they did but then heard nothing).

I think age and sex would effect who you find sexy. It seems though many women find Angelina Jolie sexy (my wife sure deos) but I don't really like her. On your list, Jacqueline Bissett does a great deal for me. She is very sexy. I also would add Diane Lane, Renee Russo and Meg Ryan, all sexy and over 40.

I think the targe demo for FHM is men 13-25, so obviously they will go younger with their feeling on attraction overall. If this list were in another mens mag you would probably get very different results.

I'm 29, so I like women from 19 all the way to 40. Over 40 is a bit out of my age range, but maturity can definitely be attractive (Marisa Tomei, who I really like, is over 40.)

Similarly, the sexiest woman isn't Scarlett or Angelina -- it's some girl in some little town that no one's ever heard of.

I like your theory. I was a big an of Angelina a few years ago. I think she has changed her look and now appears over the top to me. I'm not one of her biggest fans.
