My son bought me the first Harry Potter book.
He has told me that I *have* to read it. So I am. (It's not all that often that I take orders from my kid, but well, there ya go.)

Anyway... I'm reading Harry Potter.

Think I'll like it?

1. Depends
If you can get past the poor writing and the many illogical things that make no sense, then you will.

Personally I love the books, even though they sometimes drive me batty.

2. We have a quiz for you at the end of the book
Question 1: Would you identify yourself most closely with Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin?

No right or wrong answer here - it's just a down-and-dirty personality assessment.

3. I think so - I love them
From the writing to the characters to the sense of humor to the great fantasy world it has. Personally, the only thing I don't like about the writing is how she repeats phrases a lot. Otherwise, they are enthralling! I can't put them down.

Once you read the book, see the first movie. The books are the best thing about Harry Potter IMO, but the first two movies are very good. I saw Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire, and enjoyed it - but it wasn't great. Dumbledore was too stern IMO (you didn't feel his likability,) Voldemort seemed like any old science fiction villain (though good makeup,) and I thought each event in the Triwizard Tournament needed a little more introduction for those who didn't read the book.
