Ack! ZombieLuck Strikes Again!
So...I'm no longer the most single person in the world, just the most confused. That's right. I, ZombieNixon, have a...umm...hmm...how you say...not quite a girlfriend, more than a friend...I want to say "friend with benefits" (huge, huge, wonderful benefits), but that sounds funny.

I swear, I have the magic *ahem* of doom. Even when a girl is head over heels in love with me, she doesn't want an "official" relationship yet, because she's afraid she'll "hurt me." :wtf: Oh, well, guess I can't blame her, she just got out of a messy relationship...with a guy I know...gonna go kick his ass! :grr:

Oh, well, the benefits are good.

6. Please be discreet.
I know you're happy, my friend. to have connected with someone, and I'm happy for you, too. So please understand that I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but please please please think about how this woman would feel if she knew you were describing her as a "friend with benefits," roughly meaning that you get to boink her brains out with no attachment beyond simple friendship.

Just sayin', since you've not described the "huge, huge, wonderful benefits" outside intimating that you've boinked her brains out. What are the other huge, huge wonderful benefits?

8. That's why I'm confused.
Because it's not "friends with benefits." There's a lot more.

Other "huge, huge, wonderful" benefits:
She's funny, charming, and intelligent. I feel more comfortable talking to her than I do anyone else. We really understand each other...to the point of being able to finish each other's sentences.

I want to take it further...she doesn't...yet. x(

10. Give her time.
And give her the best gift of all, whatever happens: your friendship for life.

You're gonna think this is the most stupid thing on earth, my friend, but here goes: I'm 43 years old, and what I value much more than the guys I fooled around with in college are the guys who were my friends in all sorts of ways who've _remained_ my friends across the gulf of time, age, relationships and physical distance. A friend for life is a jillion times more valuable, I've found, than a guy I had a "connection" with 25 years ago, but it's a rare, rare person who can be that kind of friend. :)

9. He was saying it is HER who doesn't want to go further yet
so I would say, if anything, you are saying that to the wrong person.

12. And I would say
that _she's_ not on DU crowing about _him_ being a "friend with benefits." Discretion.

14. Crowing?
Crowing? The guy finds a girl after a long drought, and you come to pour water on his fire.

Should I finally find someone to be with, I'll keep it to myself, then.

11. It might be good to relay, enjoy where you are right now,
and take things slowly.

A year from now you might look back and really like where your relationship was today. Why not really take a bit of time, take a deep breath, and really just enjoy where things are right now?
