Born and raised in the Deep South, I was a transplant in other places on the globe, including the northeast, for nearly twenty years and recently returned to my home in Alabama. I was worried about coming back to this region, but have been pleasantly surprised with the good folks here working for positive change. They weren't tough to find with a little effort - I hope you have some in your community, too!

This has turned out to be a fun thread - I was actually a moderator most of last year, worked several forums, including two terms as a Lounge mod. But shhhh...don't tell anyone, ok?!

Moderators can be in every forum reading every post in every thread simultaneously. They have the instant ability to know that your brand of rule-breaking is for a good and humourous cause, while that other poopyhead's brand of rule-breaking is just plain malicious.

A moderator has a well-fuctioning crystal ball and several oracles of devination so that they can tell at an instant when some poster has had a snootful and is sitting down to the keyboard to dump the contents of their alcohol-fueled, paranoic feeble imagination.

Moderators are biased in the favour of you and all the good guys, never biased in favour of some upstart newbie or that goober that always posts those snarky rebuttals to your opinions.

Moderators love being personally abused over their moderating decisions. After all, they're paid extremely well, and they get a hefty bonus for taking guff.
