Art Buchwald is the coolest of the cool .I have read his books, and his column for years and I will miss him when he is gone.

2. I love Buchwald. We were in Georgetown about 8 years ago,

and were hanging out in the bookstore (Barnes and Noble or Borders; can't recall which). Anywho, we saw him sitting in the section where they sell coffee, just hanging out. Before I left the store, I bought a couple of signed copies of one of his paperbacks (I guess he had spent part of the morning, signing copies for sale). I'll miss him when he's gone, too. He's a great wit.

I'm paraphrasing, but I think this was from "Up the Seine and Down the Potomac"

On Watergate: "It gave me three glorious years of material, the likes of which I may never see again."

On Nixon during Watergate: "Everything he did lent itself to satire...the truth is that I needed Richard Nixon far more than he needed me."

My father died following a heart attack due to end-stage renal disease. He was not a good candidate for dialysis. It is horrible death from uremia.
