1. I had a cat

that would do that kind of reaction when I scratched his back. Sometimes he would lick the floor helplessly, and occasionally would growl while doing so. The sound effect was amazingly odd: grrralam alam alam alam alam mullum mullum mullum mullum...

4. My dad had a cat who would call out the name of every family

member if he was left alone in the house. We could hear him and see him doing it through the windows-it was creepy as hell!

7. They do say that meowing is a cat trying to mimic the human voice

Apparently, they do not do this in the wild. There was a show about it on Discovery last year. It is believed that it is done solely to communicate with humans. Not to say that felines don't communitcate among themselves in many other ways, just not meowing to each other.

They trill and hum and chirp to each other, but they only meow at me.
