I've had a crap day. A significant group of my friends were laid off yesterday when the winery where they work (a rather storied winery/inn/award-winning organic garden/event center in Hopland) was suddenly closed by the corporate rednecks in Kentucky who bought it. This is where my husband wooed me, and where we've spent our subsequent first two wedding anniversaries celebrating at the bed & breakfast.

Friends of mine are hurt. A significant chunk of my husband's and my history is left only as memory. My favorite place on earth to go (and one of the only reasons I agreed to leave Los Angeles) is now closed. I am inconsolable.
