2. my husband is a Lincoln freak...this was his quick answer to your query |
|
he read the bible incessantly and was influenced by that style
he was a perfectionist, obessesed over his writing
tried to say as much as possible with as few words as possible
When Black/White is over and we watch Top Chef on DVR, I will ask him again for you! hope he has more!

I'm in a little trouble, as I don't know any Bible quotes to use in the paper that has to mimic Lincoln's style. However, the professor is liberal enough that I think as long as it's a religious reference, he'll understand.

if you are still up- do some searches cross-referencing lincoln and biblical themes...perhaps that will help.
the obsessive part was big for lincoln- he worked on his speeches at great length. i THINK (I am not sure) that he thought the Gettysburgh address would not be a good one for that reason, he wrote it so much more quickly than normal.

Especially when read aload, there is a similarity of rhythm and use of metaphor.

I'm a little nervous, because I made it really short. But then in the accompanying piece, I argue that it should be short in Lincoln's style.
