Tell me about your thyroid problem
A buddy of mine needs a thyroid operation (overactive not underactive) so I curious how that sort of thing goes.

1. I just take the medication every AM. I had mine taken out due to cancer.

Make sure they get the levels tested. Should be ok.

I'm told (forgive my ignorence) that one can take drugs for a hypo active but one needs surgery for an overactive? Am I misinformed?

3. I had cancer so they had to take the whole thing out. But with hyper
they have to take part of it out. That's the way it used to be anyways. If it's hypo then they give medication.

7. I had thyroid cancer,too
It's been a little over a year since I had mine out. I'm having a problem, though, with them getting the dosage right on my Synthroid. Every time I go to the Dr. they seem to change the dosage. I don't know if this is a common problem after thyroidectomy or not(I hope not).

4. I have hypothyroidism
I just take medication for it daily and get labs done periodically to make sure my levels are ok. If need be the medication is adjusted.
