This is the 4th day straight that I've been unable to sleep regularly
Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 06:18 AM by Ignacio Upton
For the past four nights, I've been passing out on my bed at around anywhere from 9:00-11:00. I have ended up sleeping until around 3:00-4:00 in the morning, at which time I have started spontaneously waking up and get out of bed for no reason other than I can't get back to sleep. To pass the time, I've either been reading websites (DU and other political, naturally, as well as the news) or I've just stayed in bed while not being able to fall asleep. I've ended up seeing the sun rise for the past four days, even though I shouldn't be waking up until 8:00. Another thing that sucks is that I start feeling tired again at around 7:00, and by then I can only get less than an hour of just being "half asleep" until I have to get up. Living on the East Coast, I guess it's kind of weird that I'm "waking up" at a time when some West Coast DUer's are probably going to bed now if they're doing late night activities.

1. Insomnia is the most common complaint in Australia;
there is plenty of good info on the net, but I won't say anything here as DU is not a forum where you can post medical stuff. Yeah I know you've not got typical insomnia. Q: Do you think this is psychological or physiological in origin? (just your opinion, no med info, dear moderators)

3. I don't know
I started having this problem on Sunday night/Monday morning. By "passing out," I mean that I start feeling tired around 9:00-10:00. I didn't get much sleep the week before though. On Saturday night, I went to bed around 5:00 AM and got up at almost 3:00 (I was out at a party the night before.) While I actually like feeling tired earlier, the fact that I've been waking up at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning, and not feeling tired again until around 7:00 pisses me off, because I actually don't gain much sleep because of it.

2. what you are complaining about sounds like heaven to me...
I work 3rd shift and trying to sleep is like trying to hold water in my barehands...
I am seriously considering going back to first shift, otherwise I am gonna OD on drugs just trying to get 4 good hours, yesterday I only got 2 hours and that was with medication
maybe it is just a phase...for you

4. Going back to "sleep" now
I'll only get an hour and a half if I start now, but I'll take it over nothing. So far tonight, I've gotten about 4 1/2-5 hours of sleep. The night before, it was about 5 1/2 hours.

5. Welcome to my life.
I regularly go 48 hours without sleep. I even kept weird sleeping patterns as a little kid. I'd be up until like 2am when I was around 7 and still get up for school. My parents just gave up on giving me a bedtime. The thing is...despite my fucked-up sleep habits, I tend to have pretty good energy levels.

6. When I was 7, I got up at 5:00 AM to watch cartoons
although back then I would go to bed as early as 6:00 (only during the winter though when it was dark early. Otherwise I went to bed around 8:00-9:00.) I kinda feel like I'm reliving my sleeping pattern from when I was little, although to a lesser extent, and it sucks ass.
