4. Buying it as soon as it's released

I've always liked their music, but didn't have any of it in my collection until after "the incident". Once the backlash against the Chicks hit, I bought all three of their CDs, and will definitely be buying the new one.

I love these lyrics from the new single that's getting some airplay:

6. The Dixie Chicks go back a lot longer than three albums...

but not in their current line-up. Emily and Martie are founding members of the band, but it was years later that Natalie joined.

I have a copy of their 1993 (pre-Natalie) album "Shouldn'ta Told You That" around here somewhere.

5. Speaking of Toby Keith...

I saw a billboard yesterday that made me want to puke. It's Toby Keith's big mug next to a "patriotic" logo of a large star shooting out from red and white stripes. The text read: "My Radio. My Country." Below the logo, it said, "My Country 104.3 FM."

Barf, puke, vomit.

It's a shame, really. I liked Toby Keith when his first album came out on '93 and I was working for a country radio station. Who knew?

8. He's just Gimicky.....

All his songs are bassed on cute turns of a phrase...

Which, of course, is what a lot of country is all about...

But the heartfelt real country music of artist such as Tift Merritt, Nanci Griffith, Dwight Yokum, Steve Earle, et al, is really the connectin to folks like the Carter Family, Jimmy Rodgers, et al.....
