DUers are good cooks
I am currently making a wild rice turkey casserole dish and it is making my home smell so good....and where did I get the recipe...from a DU thread...

And ...by the way...Babette's Hobbit Pie...delicious!! My family has requested it many times for christmas day brunch!

So if any DUers have any more good stuff to share I am all ears/eyes!

8. That wouldn't be a bad idea
There were a TON of excellent recipes on the Thanksgiving thread. One nice thing is is that if people submit them on a thread, you don't have to re-key them in for the publisher.

Anyone want to step forward and claim this project? I simply don't have the time but I would be happy to help.

3. Melsky's Spaghetti
2 onions
1 cup carrots, chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
1 large can tomatoes
Olive oil

Sauté the onions in oil until semi transparent
Add carrots and celery, sauté for about 5 minutes.
Cover and cook on low heat about 15 minutes
Add the tomatoes, cook on low heat for at least 45 minutes.

Serve over pasta, rice or potatoes, with Parmesan cheese.

This is a very versatile recipe. All the amounts are approximate. Can also be served as stew.

This is one of those recipes that tastes better the next day. It's great to make a huge batch and freeze.

22. Reminds me of the question the new father asked the ob/gyn
"How long after the birth do I have to wait to have sex with my wife?"
"Depends on whether she's in a private or semi-private room."

7. I could be a master chef!
Italian is my forte. I can do a mean Chinese stir-fry. Tex mex to set your mouth on fire....without setting fire to your stomach. I can roast about anything and it'll never be dry.

18. Here is a quick Italian Pasta Carbonara recipe
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 06:04 PM by 45th Med
This is for a quick sautee.

Diced sweet onion
Sliced mushrooms
Breakfast bacon
Green peas
Bottled Alfredo or Red Sauce
Red or White wine, depending on sauce....red for red, white for white
Diced tomatoes
Cooked Pasta...bowtie, shells or spirals
Olive Oil
Minced Garlic

Get a non-stick sautee pan, heat on med-high. Heat oil til hot, add garlic and let sizzle for just a few seconds. Sautee veggies for about 3 minutes. Add just a dash of wine and let cook for about 2 minutes. Add bacon, peas and sauce. Mix well, cook for another 2 minutes. Add pasta and mix up well.

VOILA!
