Need an opinion - contractor causing damage

I have a crew here remodeling my bathroom. Yesterday, they laid the tile. They were cutting it in the hallway. I noticed that they cut the runner carpet. Is this my fault for not picking it up or theirs?

It seems to me that it is their fault. I would speak with whomever is in charge of the crew, and get them to replace the carpet or pay for a new one.
