When you're posting in a thread, do you ever do this?
You read a post that makes you think -- "That's kinda dumb, I think I'll write a very reasonable post telling them how wrong they are?" Then, you realize it's a poster you usually agree with, so you don't post it? I do that sometimes...

1. What I do quite often is
write a very long and detailed post, maybe three or four big paragraphs, explaining some important point in exquisite detail, then get to the point of previewing it and think "nah, they'll all think I'm a dick," and abandon it.

So many essays on DU got lost that way... :hi:

2. I've done that, too! Except, I delete it because I think:
I'm just too tired to be defending this for the next three hours...

5. I feel a sense of loss now.
Maybe Skinner would let you set up a separate "He's no dick" journal. Then your wise essays would not be lost to your disciples who know the truth.

(As if anyone at all would think that of you!) :hi:

4. Nope
I don't hold back. Always call a spade a spade.

It's an effort to help keep these boards somewhat sane.

6. Well, of course. Friendship is more important than opinions.
At least to me.

7. Nah.
If someone's posting in opposition progressive values, even if that person is my friend, I'll still tell 'em, but in a kind way. And I'm wrong, too, sometimes. I like to be the _first_ admit that I'm wrong. It makes the flames hurt less. :(

8. Not really
For the most part, my friends here are people I agree with about most things. When I do disagree, I'll say so on-thread, but probably phrase my objection differently than I would with a relative stranger.

9. No, not really.
My attitude is, Live and let live.

If I do happen to disagree, and if I'm motivated enough to respond, I do it in a way that is respectful.

We don't all have to agree all the time, but we can still be respectful of our differences and find the common ground of our humanity.

My two cents.

 :hi: LostinVA! Bright blessings and Happy Spring to you!

10. I do it a lot...
Read people's posts and want to say something, Put then I don't, because I like them.

If they said something dumb..... well we all do.

Khash.
