1. What color did it turn out?
What kind of dye did you use?

3. a variety of L'Oreal
hard to tell because it's not dry yet, but i think it's a shade of blond just a little lighter than my own -- which has darkened considerably in the last ten years -- and i think it might have just a tint of shimmery copper.

4. I'll know in a while, when it dries. The tears are for the fact that I
have succumbed to my vanity. I refuse to become bitter about what aging is doing to my body -- but dammit, Kesha, I want my blonde hair back!! It used to be so bright and beautiful, and now -- oh, my lord  if I am honest I have to call it a very light brown.

I hate being vain as much as I hate losing my blonde hair.

My sister suggested just one shade lighter than the current natural color, and I think I found that. After a few weeks, maybe I'll go another shade lighter, or maybe I'll just let it grow out again. I don't know.

5. My friend
that is NOT vanity, it's caring enough about yourself to want to look your best! I don't think you could be vain if you tried. Do for you, what ever makes YOU feel good. If it gives you a lift to colour your hair, I say go for it!

 K!

kesha.

10. Really? See...
I've never really cared how I looked to other people. I want to be clean in body and to wear clean, pressed clothes, and that is all I have ever cared about. No matter the style, if my hair is clean & brushed it's enough for me. I like earrings. I wear a scent but only for myself. I abhor and will never wear makeup.

This is how I feel -- and coloring my hair isn't vanity? This is a lot to wrap my brain around. I"m weirdly introspective and feel guilt at the drop of a hat.

Oh, my... just don't know about myself sometimes.

6. That's how I do it, too
And I think it's a great idea...good for you!!

I use L'Oreal that's about the same shade that my hair used to be. Mine's gotten darker over time, too.

And I get the coppery tint. It's always kind of startling at first...then either it fades or I get used to it. I don't do my hair very often at all though...maybe once a year.

You gonna post a pic??

11. A pic? Maybe.....
Maybe. If Mrs. V. doesn't laugh anymore. It wasn't a malicious laugh. I got highlights a few weeks ago and she said "but... but... the highlights are gone!"

Well, I decided I don't WANT blonde highlights. I want my blonde HAIR back. ALL of it!

If I do a pic, I'll post a before & after. But not today. :)

22. I dye my hair all the time.
It wil be okay. My hair's easy because it's short though. I also dye the hair of my long-hair friends. I'm a lot cheaper than a professional and good at it.

7. Sweetie, I've colored my hair for the past 30+ years,
Now, I've lost my hair due to health problems, and I forgot what my true coloring really is. It turns out my roots were so different than what I thought they were, and I love my natural color! I can't wait till my hair grows back.

12. I can't wait til it grows back too.
I hate to see (assuming from the Av) why you've lost it. bless you, dear one.

I like hats. I suppose with hair I like, I will have to stop wearing baseball hats so much...

 as if!

19. Right now, I'm totally into baseball hats!
yeah, my av is why I lost my hair, but I'm hanging in and I have a love/hate relationship with my "hairpiece", but she'll do. When my hair grows back out, I don't think I'll color it, but I'm a wee bit older than you! It looks like it'll be salt and pepper when it grows back, and I'm okay with that.

20. I had a hat made for my other half, Mrs. V., and as much as she loved it
she asked me instantly if I would mind if I sent it to her cousin. Her cousin just rec'd a 3-6 months prognosis. Horrible, horrible, untreatable metastasis.

She got a nice hairpiece from the ACS but detests it. So we sent her the hat. I had it made after a popular country song. On the front is embroidered "REDNECK WOMAN" and on the back, "Hell, yeah!"

Mayra (cousin) LOVED the hat. If we lived in TN, Mrs. V. and I would both shave our heads so that Mayra's daughter, eleven yrs old, might have an easier time of it.

Okay, I jacked my own thread, and I hope I didn't make you or anyone cry.

8. Do you feel better about your hair yet?
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 11:39 PM by CottonBear
I think hair color is wonderful! Yours seems like it will be perfect!

I too am a blonde. I've gotten somewhat darker over time but I'm still blonde. the stinky part is the grey hair I got for my 40th birthday.

Fortunately, I have a great hair stylist! She even used to cut and style Michael Stipe's hair - when he had some!

She cuts and colors my hair and Mr. CB's and even gives us the formulas to buy the color supplies at Sally Beauty supply so we can mix the colors ourselves (less than at the salon) so he can get better color than out of the Just for Men box! I still go to the salon for highlights! I do the dreaded plastic highlight cap (ouch!) for wonderful and very natural blonde highlight results! I am way overdue for new highlights!

You go girlfriend! Great cut and color are the keys to great hair happiness! :)

15. Yes. It is very soft! My sister said it would be.
She colors hers regularly, always experimenting with different shades. She looks best as a coppery strawberry blonde. She did her daughter's in black & purple the other night. Can't wait to see that photo.

I work with a young woman who's in lust with Michael Stipe. Yes, she knows....

Thank you for your encouragement.

23. I'm so glad you like your new hair color!
Ha! ;) Once, Michael asked Mr. CB out (many years ago.) Fortunately for me, Mr. CB declined! ;) (Mr. CB is HOT!) ;)

Michael and his sister (I worked with her in college at a local pizza joint and saw her last fall) are both unbelievably beautiful in person.
They both have that something special..who knows what. They are unusual in appearance...but they are both so beautiful and both have an incredible singing talent and charisma!

16. Thanks, Peggy.
Eventually, I'll let it go to its natural gray or silver or white, whatever that turns out to be. And I"ll be happy with that then. But not for a while.

13. Did you do it yourself?
I can't make jello, so I don't even touch my own hair. I have been coloring mine done since I was 12.

I am still trying to find a new colorist.

I was terrified. I locked myself in the bathroom, read the destructions outloud to myself, and just DID it. I bet you can too. Give it a shot.

21. Oh god no!
In December, I had three colorists try to fix one disaster caused by a "master colorist". The last one finally fixed it and now I am afraid to even touch it. I don't trust many people with my hair, especially myself...but my dark roots are driving me crazy!

I am sure you look great!
