I just talked to my sister Kathy. Mom is still in the hospital, but is doing better. She's out of ICU now. Her heart rate has remained steady, and closer to normal. She still has a headache, but it's not nearly as bad as it was. She isn't coughing as much, which is good, because that's what makes the headache bad. She's on two anti-biotics, one oral, and one IV. The doc is not sure how much longer she will need to be there; Kathy thinks that he wants to see if she will remain somewhat stable for another day or two before letting her go home. She's still saying she feels "kind of weird", and it may be one of the meds she's on.

So, things are looking a bit better, but I'll be so glad when she gets to go home.

And that she's out of ICU. One step at a time...she'll be home soon enough, for now it's important that she get well first.

25. You're fortunate to have a good doctor.
Too many hospitals are in a hurry to discharge a patient. If your doctor is wanting to keep her there, you've found a good one.

26. He's very good. Plus, it helps that mom worked at the hospital
for over 35 years, and she was one of the staff's favorite people. Also, her doc doesn't believe in "drive-by" medical treatment.

And how are you doing, Rev?

27. Doing OK.
I have a funeral on Monday, and I'm wondering how I'm going to do. I'm glad that another pastor is going to be there, and he's doing the eulogy. It's kinda sad. This woman's husband died 5 weeks before she did.... and my mom's funeral was between the two. It's had the odd effect of drawing the family and me closer to each other.

That, and I'm finally remembering how lonely Saturday nights can be.

I'm so glad your mom is getting better.

38. So far, God hasn't let me down yet.
My grief seems to be limited to private time at home, or when I'm alone. But when I'm "Pastor Ruth," something happens. Strength is given. I guess that's what we call "Grace" - and it really IS amazing. :)

Grace is indeed amazing, and God does indeed help hold us up, and hold us together, when it's hard to do it on our own.

30. My dear SeattleGirl........
I am glad to hear that she's progressing...

However, I am also glad to hear that they aren't in ANY hurry to send her home just yet.

She needs to stay there until there is no doubt that she doesn't need to be there any longer.....

No matter how long it takes!

We don't want her to go home, just to need to return right away.....

All my good thoughts and prayers go out to her, you, and your whole family......
