Movie quotes
Post a favorite quote (or very close) from a movie and let us try to pick the movie...

To start off I'll pick something easy..

"As God as my witness, I shall never be hungry again, nor shall any of my kin..."

Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 10:33 PM by Ava
I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth. Banks are going bust. Shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's no one anywhere that seems to know what to do with us. Now into it. We know the air is unfit to breathe, our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had 15 homicides and 63 violent crimes as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad. Worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy so we don't go out anymore. We sit in a house as slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster, and TV, and my steel belted radials and I won't say anything." Well I'm not going to leave you alone. I want you to get mad. I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crying in the streets. All I know is first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, "I'm a human being. God Dammit, my life has value." So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out, and yell, "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!" I want you to get up right now. Get up. Go to your windows, open your windows, and stick your head out, and yell, "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!" Things have got to change my friends. You've got to get mad. You've got to say, "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!" Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open your window, stick your head out and yell, "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

16. Waiting for Guffman
Heres another:

"They took me off into a separate room; I seen 'em takin' different people off; different ones of us off in separate rooms and put me on a big white table and uh the guy that took me in there - to examine me I guess - he probed me and then I was in there I bet more than three or four hours, in that room, being probed and at one time or another these different ones of 'em came in, four or five or six of 'em at different times, and all of 'em probed me, uh, not all at once, you know, individually. Later on, years later, now, even still, uh, it's a funny thing - it happened on a Sunday and every Sunday about the time I was taken on board that ship I - find I have no feelings in my buttocks."

As a joke, every once in awhile, reprehensor or I let out a "Santa Cleopatra!" or a "Mia Madre" when we're joking about something.

Have you seen his other really funny one "Il Mostro?" (The Monster)? It's HILARIOUS! He gets mistaken for a serial killer.

Also "The Visitors"? the original French movie? No Begnini, but it's silly in that same way.

27. Actually, end of May.
But it's looking like my time is going to be pretty monopolized while I'm there, unfortunately (actually fortunately). I don't know if I'll be able to squeeze any other visits in like I usually do.

I've dug up a bunch of genealogy cousins to meet with while I'm up, and am going to be busy at their places, sharing pictures and stories etc. I need some serious research at the library too. Since last summer, I've been writing our family history, and have about 450 pages with no end in sight.

And we're coming up for a wedding, so there will be lots of socializing and wedding events and such.

"I guess this is just another lost cause, Mr. Payne. All you people don't know about lost causes. Mr. Payne does. He said once they were the only causes worth fighting for. And he fought for them once, for the only reason any man ever fights for them; because of just one plain simple rule: 'Love thy neighbor.'... And you know that you fight for the lost causes harder than for any other. Yes, you even die for them. "

Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 03:13 PM by jpgray
"...and because of it, the greatest in the universe. He learned too late for himself that men have to find their own way, to make their own mistakes. There can't be any gift of perfection from outside ourselves. And when men seek such perfection... they find only death... fire... loss... disillusionment... the end of everything that's gone forward. Men have always sought an end to the toil and misery, but it can't be given, it has to be achieved. There is hope, but it has to come from inside, from man himself."

88. How'd I know you'd pick that one?

I can't wait until June 13, when it finally comes out on DVD. :D

On edit - that is indeed a very cool lunchbox.
