but I do know that there's plenty of mean-spirited gossip that goes around DU via PM. Hopefully, I've made it clear that I won't participate in that sort of thing; I rarely hear "behind the scenes" DU gossip, which is just the way I like it. :)

P.S. This isn't gossip, but a fact: Khashka is a dear friend of both mine and Call Me Wesley's. I don't know what anyone's saying about us; on the other hand, though, I don't care. :)

I come here seeking fun and friendship...In my search I am accused of covertly slamming on people by having a dislike for Angelina Jolie. I guess I was out of the loop that she is supposed to represent the relationship of another DUer. Could have knocked me over with a feather. And it wasn't the only time that I posted something covert...without my knowledge even. Pretty cool eh?

Also, while I've been here I've noticed one poster in particular who hasn't learned how to use the ignore button when it comes to me and pretty much likes to question my every post for honesty and/or has problems in general with what I've posted... Oh well...his/her problem.

My reason for posting this is that too many people are getting wrapped up in other peoples' business ON AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD even.

Here's the deal...I'm sick of the junior high mentalities...There are two sides to every story. There's a heck of a lot of whiny people out there in the world. If one acts like an ass, one will be treated like an ass. I've mistakenly placed trust in people that I only just met...only to come out feeling used in the end.

And those of you who think so highly of yourselves that you think I'm speaking of you...I'm not. So get over yourselves...

If people want to share their personal relationship stories and ask for support on DU, that's fine, in my book. Others can participate, or not, as they desire.

But it sounds like you're talking about something different, which involves speaking about others in a negative, judgmental and hurtful way....and THAT, I do not approve of.

It's too bad that sometimes our differences are seen as a problem, rather than something to be celebrated and embraced. Can't we all just get along? :shrug:

when there didn't seem to be a behind the scene network of gossipers, coordinated thread-jackers/intimidators, and a sense of creation of an "us vs. them" culture in the lounge.

Almost funny when I think that what used to irk me the most was the gazillion (or is it brazillion) "raise your hand if..." threads.

Now one has to watch what one says because it might intrude on some insiders only joke, or some ongoing silently waged/coordinated effort targeted at target du jour - but that isn't specified to the rest of the folks in the lounge so one never knows what minefield one might be accidently trodding upon.

I cry "Bring back the raise the hand, or the fried chicken flame wars..." as at least the dynamics of what or who was being talked about where clear to all and didn't set up an us vs them tone.
