Anyone Here See Basic Instinct II? Is it any good?

I see that it bombed at the box office and the reviews have been just terrible. But reviews aren't always right.

Should I spend the money?

1. You mean Basic Instinct II?
Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 09:00 AM by Frank Cannon
Rotten Tomatoes has it at about 6% good reviews, which puts it right up there with Gigli and Kangaroo Jack.

ON EDIT: Here's the link...

Looks like your entertainment dollar would best be spent elsewhere.

4. Nah. I often get those cheesy Michael Douglas movies mixed up too.
After all, he made quite a few there in the 80s and 90s.

5. Minor Spoiler, For The Few Of You Who Want To See The New Movie

A critic on CBS' Sunday morning show divulged that the new movie doesn't have any gynecological shots of Sharon Stone, like the original did.......

6. One of my favorite reviewers loved its campy excess

and quoted some great lines from it.(*) His wife is an expert on erotic thrillers (whilst he is probably the world's leading expert on The Exorcist!) and she really enjoyed it too, so that's 2 thumbs up. Plus the idea of Stan Collymore (who's a British footballer) sexually satisfying Sharon Stone probably guarantees I'll rent it when it comes to DVD(!) Curiously, the director has also made a film about the Rwandan genocide which also opened this week in the UK.

If you're interested, the review can be downloaded or streamed here:

Basic Instinct 2 comes about 20 minutes in IIRC.

edit (*)"Don't take it so hard. Even Oedipus didn't see his mother coming." - Genius!!!

(I should add that I've seen an unhealthy number of Shannon Tweed movies, so my judgement on these matters may be impaired.)
