9. Here's a good one...
Out to eat tonight, got a box to take home half our sandwiches (American portions are INSANE) and I actually went back to the salad bar for a bit a fruit and took a pile of shelled pistaschios to toss in the box!!! I can remember my Grandma opening her purse at a buffet and filling a plastic bag with rolls!!! LOL

4. I turned "50" on Feb. 3rd, half a century. Sigh. So what?
The alternative stinks, and good luck with the smoking. I still do.
But chops to you!

j/k my 49 will be in January...:P

good job on the smoking. It was the hardest thing but the best thing I did in my life. 23 years now.

You're over the hardest part. Don't waste it.

8. I'm at 14mg with the patch and using some gum
The gum is REALLY nasty!! But it's better then cigs!!! I've noticed myself catching people smelling like cigs in restaurants and such! We planned ahead, did NOT smoke inside, quit in the car, then the patches, etc... It is a HORRIBLE addiction and I want to hurt those companies!!!

Thanks for the props!!!

10. Congrats Rick Myers.
Happy birthday to you. I just turned 48 in March myself. My husband and I stopped smoking about two weeks ago. This time we did not use the gum or patches. We are going cold turkey this time. This has been the easiest time of quitting for some reason. I think the patch was teasing us with our addiction. We stopped smoking in our home and vehicle a few years ago so we do not have that as a trigger here now. Keep up the good work my friend.:toast:

12. Thanks!!!
I'm starting to think the patch/gum route is feeding the addiction! And the patch has made us look like we have been wrestling ocutpii, or octapuses... They leave marks, some times very blistered, and the gum is an addiction all it's own.

Janet's smoked for 30 years, but I only started 14 years ago. We are both doing ok, but all the usual side effects, except that I am not eating more and may even be eating less. Janet is 115 lbs and eats like a lumberjack!

15. It has not affected our food intake at this point.
We stopped smoking a few years ago with the patches and fell on our heads within a few weeks. So the past few years we have been sharing a cig everytime we would go outside light up. So we were smoking less. I went from 2 packs down to 10 a day over the past 2 years. When I stop smoking with the patches I had bad cravings. I do not seem to have them this time for some reason. I am not sure if it is because I have cut down over a period of time or if it was the patches. Before when I used the gum I would chew so much of it that my jaws would ache. LOL Plus I would get some bad effects from the gum.
