... and they eat just about ANYTHING! I think they'll even eat POISON IVY. I guess they are low maintenance and don't require a lot of expensive feed... so they would do well in more extreme climates where natural food sources for the goats are scarce (or poor quality).

Cattle, pig, lamb, deer, antelope, elk, bear, turkey, chicken, quail, trout, salmon, catfish, various marine species of fish - not sure of them all, crabs, shrimps, lobster and crayfish. Edit to add: various molusks as well.


Of the terrestrial vertebrates cattle, pig, chicken and turkey are the favorites by far. Love seafood but it's not real affordable for me.

Beef, pork, chicken, turkey and about three times, duck. Other than those, I haven't eaten anything else. I have eaten most fish at one time or another.

It was easy for me to become a vegetarian, but when I became diabetic, my doctors told me I needed more protein again, so I came back to turkey and chicken. I eat pork and beef very, very rarely at all. I think I've had beef about five times in the past year. And pork is usually limited to bacon or sausage when I eat out for breakfast.

The first time I ever tried venison, it was because someone was trying to trick me into eating it. They told me that I was eating beef stew, but it was actually VENISON stew.

Well, they did NOT fool me... when I had my first bite of meat, it tasted nothing at ALL like beef. I assumed it was rancid beef and I spit it out right away.

Does venison really taste "bad" or did I dislike it right away ONLY because I was expecting something familiar, but got something else instead? Would I have liked it better if I had been told what it was?
