No I am not a hotel! Quit calling me!
For some reason, my phone number is listed as the contact number for a major hotel. This makes for some interesting calls at all hours of the day. People bitching about room service, trying to make car arrangements and reservations and such. I am used to saying "I am sorry, you have reached a private residence" and hanging up. Usually, that is the end of it. Just now, I had a woman argue with me saying that I HAD to be the hotel because this is the number that she found online. Gah. I live in a one bedroom apartment. I don't even like to have people over. I assure you, that I am not the fucking hotel. Okay? She called three times ranting about her room service order. I am now refusing to answer (Caller ID is a brilliant innovation) and I can't wait to check my answering machine in the morning. I should probably record all of the messages I get thoughout a year and post them online...they are quite entertaining...

Good Lord.:banghead:

1. Our neighbors #
is one digit off from the cable company we have in my part of CT.

They literally get 30, 40 calls a day.

I would've changed my number already if I were my neighbor.

I would look into if there was anything they can do to get your number off that contact list.

4. 30 to 40?

I only get about two or three a week. I can deal with that.

I checked it out several months ago, and my phone number is only listed in a guide from 1999. So it isn't like it is on the speed dial in the rooms.

I like my phone number because it is so easy to remember. I am not going to let a few tourists with out of date guidebooks run my life:P

6. That's not so bad for you then.
Seriously, my neighbor's phone rings constantly. I would be so annoyed.

3. There used to be a restaurant near me....
whose phone number was on digit off from mine. The kicker is that the name of the restaurant was very close to my first name. So I'd get these calls asking for someone with a name close to mine...who then wanted to make reservations. Happily, the restaurant closed a few years ago.

I know how that is....

5. That's funny - but annoying
I once had an 800 number for the business I was running that must have been close to that of a ski area in Colorado (I was in Vermont). I got a lot of interesting calls on that line but at least it was a business phone to begin with.
