I just got a collect call from the Cook County Jail

I do not know anyone who resides in that establishment, so I did not accept the charges.

I do hope that someone did not fuck up and use their one phone call on a bitch like me who doesn't accept calls from people in da can:P.

1. I had those collect calls from inmates too.

I am not sure what the deal is.

2. I used to get them all the time. I had an idiot roomate who was a public

defender, and the asshole gave out *MY* home number, which he shared for the short period of time he lived in my house, to his clients.

I feel sorry for anyone who was "defended" by this guy. He was the most incompetent individual I have ever seen in action.

4. Don't ever take those calls. A phone scam is involved.

I forget the details, but there's some way they can get access to your phone line to make long distance calls.

I remember one night, a number of years ago, I got two calls from men in jail and I refused to accept them.

5. I got one of those and rejected it.

I don't know what the "rules" are, being as I've never been lucky enough to be incarcerated, but if it's for real, they would probably let them call someone else. One time my ex called collect like that and I didn't accept. It was two years after we had broken up. What an ass.

6. I've gotten those too. Often the inmates just dial a random

number, and reach an actual household. I won't accept the charges either.

because my stepdad is a lawyer. he doesn't do criminal law though.

he sues the hell out of big companies! :D
