There is no problem with "different opinions" here. But these opinions have to be, albeit loosely, progressive in nature.

We are all (well mostly) familiar with the arguments of the "conservative" viewpoint and reject them out of hand. Most of them are based on fallacies that simply do not stand up to any intellectual rigor, or history for that matter.

I know from personal experience, if you let "conservatives" post here, all that will happen is a long fight, becoming quite acrimonious, and absolutely nobodys mind will be changed at the end.

Political discussion boards *have* to work this way, they simply devolve into useless chaos otherwise. The conservative counterpoint board, "free republic" has essentially the same rule. If you post the liberal side of the story you will be banned.

I'm sure you think you have all these wonderful counters to the things you read here. And, to be sure, not every post on this board is exactly top-notch analysis. But by and large any general opinions you have about the "war" on terror, the economy, etc, etc, would be refuted utterly and definitively within minutes of your posting. Save yourself the trouble.
