When you perform some transaction by phone and as computer-generated voice gives you a computer-generated confirm number, but it doesn't tell you how many digits it will be, so you invariably don't leave yourself enough space on whatever scrap you're jotting the number.
"Your confirmation number is 5-6-7-45-8-4-2-5-7-6-8-5-8-9-5-3-5-3-7-8-5-78-4-2-5-3-7-5-89-9-7-5-0-1-7-7-7..."
Why don't they say "Your six-digit confirmation number is..."
I hate that.

Get a blank piece of paper before you make phone transactions. Don't forget to start writing in the upper left hand corner.

But if it's a check-by-phone thingie, usually I'll try to note the confirm # in the "Memo" space.
You'd think I'd learn...

3. Trying to negotiate an automated phone voice system... |
|
...that's voice activated instead of touch-tome activated while the baby is crying is loads of fun too!
I kept hitting zero, but the system kept responding to the sound of the baby and saying, "I am having trouble understanding you. Did you ask for blah blah blah? Please say Yes or No."
I kept hitting 0 and eventually screaming "Let me fucking talk to a person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" which didn't help at all.
It took about 15 minutes!
