Picture of the www.WhiteRoseSociety.org studio.
Some of you have asked for a picture of my studio... Here it is!
Note my production assistant under the table barking at the
production assistant next door...

2. Got one... You aren't seeing one of the machines.
The tube on the right is KVMed.

The machines on the left are an eMac and an iMac, respectively, and have integrated screens.

4. The one in the middle is an original Rev. 'A' Bondi Blue iMac
233 MHz G3, 192 MB RAM, and a 20 GB HD.

And it is Running OSX and handles several of the shows I record.

The only problem with it is that it has been turned on continuously since 1999, and the screen has started getting a bit dim.

7. Didn't realize you had such luxurious digs!
Just teasing, ben! I have an assistant like yours -- she lays on the window sill and makes sure I get enough breaks during the day!

8. You are so damned neat.
I can't throw off my addiction to paper. Books and paper everywhere. My scanners and my printers are often buried under papers; if I want to use them I have to move stuff.

Plus my dog is bigger, and she farts. Or she drools on my knee because she wants to go out for a walk.

Hand Sanitizer? Why would I disrupt the complex ecosystems living in my machines? I'm the only filthy creature who touches them.

But sometimes people send me stuff that makes me want to scrub my eyeballs. There's nothing you can buy that can clean up that sort of mess.

11. What's that under furry assistant's feet?
A Dell Optiplex GX110?

That's a fine foot warmer. It probably has other uses too, but that's a start.

15. Yep. That's just what it is. Cost me $80.
Has a good aftermarket graphics card in it, which makes it tolerable.

17. By necessity! I have a teeny-tiny cottage.
The machine on the left is a 1GHz G4 eMac with the storage. I have five drive enclosures there with seven drives totaling 2.1 TB of space. The audio data is all archived on a rotating basis to three different drives so that no single failure can lose more than two day's worth of recordings. I also make a complete DVD-R backup each quarter.

Not in the picture are the three UPS systems 850VA, 800VA, and 1000VA, one of the iMacs, one of the Linux boxes, and the DSL hardware.

In our offsite facility in Virginia we have fiver 1900 MHz Athlon servers, each with 160 GB of storage.

The picture was taken with a really cheap little keychain camera as we forgot my good camera in Kalamazoo last week at Katy's Mom's house...

I think not.

Hey, where's the rest of 1984??

And your production assistant is so cute. I really like to see people's workspaces. Yours is very cool.

The lace-clothed table in this picture is where I now have my e-machine.

23. Your workplace has more personality...
I'd love to have houseplants, but the cats eat them.

We are getting out of the cat business. After the last of these passes, NO more cats. We love them, but they destroy our furniture, and we simply will not have them de-clawed as that is a barbaric mutilation.
