A freak accident has claimed an old high school classmate

I graduated high school with Bob Beane. I also went to school with the woman quoted in the article, Sandra Ryder (Bob's sister-in-law).

This is just so weird. A freak accident, and it turns out to be someone you know.

2. Believe it or not, this is not the first major accident he had

One morning when we were in elementary school, he got chosen to hold the doors open for all us kids to come in off the playground. The playground was across the street from the school. He got to the fence and one of the teachers was driving in. She stopped as did he. They each signalled for the other to go, and then they both went. I remember her hitting him, and his body under her car as she ran into the building screaming.

He was out of school for a long time after that.


Strange how some people just seem to get more than their share (not that anyone ever deserves any of this... but you know...)
