9. I doubt that Churchill said that...
If he had, the great Cecil Adams (of The Straight Dope fame) would have mentioned it in his answer. Appears to have originated with Groucho.

You have to read the exchange on which the quote is based.

That said, there is some debate as to whether Groucho really said it or whether it just grew into a legend. Snopes regards the validity of the story as undetermined. Read article here:

12. Interesting, I was sure I had heard him say that
on his TV program. Apparently I had heard the story and filed it away in my memory that I had actually witnessed it.
