6. Starfish are easier
They have six points so join together readily.

Although monkeys could be interesting too. I recently read an article about inmates who knit and crochet for charity. One warden said, "You ain't seen nothing until you've seen a guy who's serving 800 years come up to you all proud and beaming because he crocheted his first cow."

9. Seems so, especially if she can't crochet herself.
Then all she has to do is join them. Saves her a ton of work and she can pass it off as her own work.

10. I clicked on this thread because I mistakenly read
"I'm a crocheting starfish." That would be something. Oh, well. Here's my question: Don't starfish have five points?

11. With five arms, a crocheting starfish would be FAST
Of course, there's the whole no-opposable-thumbs thing, but still...FIVE ARMS!

15. tube feet are a problem
starfish move in slow-mo, and tube feet only work in salt water, and... although they generally have suction cups on their ends, I don't think that yarn would suction very well.

That might suction better than other fibers.

26. starfish story
Several years ago my little girl and I are on the beach at York, Maine. It's low tide, and we are exploring tidal pools. In one we find a starfish. It the first time either of us have seen a real live starfish in its natural habitat.

"Can we pick it up?"
"I think so, if we're very careful and gentle with it."
It feels funny and tickles when its little "feet"(?) move on your hand. We put it back in the pool and in a minute or so it starts to move again, very slowly.

A man about my age and his little boy come over to see what we're looking at. They watch for a few minutes, and then he asks me "Is that YOUR starfish?"
"Well, no. It's not MINE. It's just there. It just is."
"Oh."

It was time for lunch and we walked back up to the blankets and joined the rest of the group. About a half hour later we came back down to the pool and the starfish was gone. I don't think he could have gotten very far in a half hour. I guess it's HIS now.
jeez

14. Why, so they do
Although some have a whole lot more. This six-pointed pattern obviously takes a bit of artistic license.

19. "I'm a crochety starfish. Ask me anything"
Is what I first read. I pictured a five armed Andy Rooney kissing Bush's ass.

22. do you really want to know?
The anus and uh, genital pores, are located on the "top" of the starfish, right in the center of the arms.
