Althea relaxing in her and Quinn's new kitty tree
Quinn was off doing Quinn stuff, so he's not in the photo, but he likes the tree just as much as she does!

:loveya: These two are so much fun to have around :P

4. I'm waiting to hear back from the seller right now
Edited on Wed Apr-05-06 06:29 PM by ET Awful
There were two bolts missing, so one of the levels/shelves isn't on the tree until I can get them to send me the bolts.

Fortunately, they're a standard size bolt, so if they don't respond, I can just get 'em from the hardware store.

Tell Merlin he's welcome to come by any time and play on their tree. :P

and found all manner of cat climb toys with a hugh! price range. I want something sturdy and reasonably priced. Yours looks good!

14. After shipping, the total ws $128
They charge a LOT for the shipping, but the auctions usually end with really low prices ($50 or less). Then they nail you for $70 or more on shipping & handling.

This is the one I got: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4452701193&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BID_IT

See the smaller shelf on the right hand side? I couldn't mount that because a couple of bolts were missing in the shipment. I'm waiting for them to send those out to me (or I'll just get them at the hardware store). I think they just fell out of the box though, there was a small hole in the plastic bag for the hardware. No biggie.

It's not bad at all. It's sturdy (not as sturdy as some of the REALLY expensive ones I've seen, but I think it'll hold up under my two).

16. If you google cat climb toy
there are 1, 070,000 results. the first is cozycatfurniture.com and they have so many designs I don't know how to choose! My Mac is over 20 lbs, Trouble is at least 15. Little Gloria is only about 7. BUT, if they all start racing up this thing, I want it to be solid!

17. Hmmm, I don't know if it would handle all three of them on one side
of the tree. Quinn is around 12-14 pounds, and Althea is about 7.

It barely wobbles when they climb it.

I can't say for sure if it would hold your guys or not. I think it's rated to hold a max of 60 pounds (I don't remember where I saw that though).

That's such a clear picture, I feel like I could pick up Althea right out of the photo. She's so adorable. Of course, you'll have to post a photo of Quinn on it sometime soon too. We's gots to have our Quinn. And tell me, what exactly is "Quinn stuff" that he's doing?

She now has a perfect bird blind! I have a kitty tower, and all the children seem to use it for is tracking birds outside the window!

What a nice pet parent you are!

31. It's good quality, I wouldn't say excellent :).
I can see a lot of areas that could be built better (for instance, the posts aren't solid wood, but hollow tubes reinforced by plastic inserts).

But, if it was all solid wood, it would have weight 5 times as much and cost 3 times as much :P.

They like it, it looks good, I'm happy :)

32. i've got a couple of 20+#ers
not fat, just really big cats. i might nd to put some threadlock or superglue on the threads of that top platform. you're right, o/c, about the hvy-gauge cardboard tubes that comprise the scratching posts, but i have MANY cats and consider any of there toys as needful of replacement every year or two.

33. hehehe, the two hanging toys that come with this thing were receiving
mucho attention when I left at noon yesterday, by the time I got home, they were in a nice little pile in the corner with empty loops on the platforms :).

So, I remounted them with some heavy laces I had from an old torn up apron :).

Did they use it immediately, ET, or did it take some time for them to warm up to it? Every time I get Ginger a new "thing," he gives me hateful looks for a couple of days.
