Arrrgh!!! May I vent for a moment?
Okay, a lot of you know that my mom was recently in the hospital, though she is home now, and getting better, thank goodness.

But in addition to that, MrSG has had some respiratory/sinus stuff going on that surgery a month ago didn't seem to help a freakin' bit. He has almost no energy, so pretty much everything around the house falls on me. I know he can't help it, and I know he feels bad, but sometimes I feel pissed off about it.

His parents are coming to stay with us this weekend, so the "company's coming" cleaning is up to me. And frankly, I want to just say, "fuck it".

My work load has been quite low since mid-fall, so my income has taken a real beating, and I'm struggling in a way I haven't had to for years and years. Sometimes my eyeballs aren't even above water.

There are several other things that are getting to me too.

I'm not normally a sad-sack, poor pitiful me kind of person; I'm actually fairly upbeat most of the time.

But right now, I feel like crying or yelling or both. I'll stop venting now, but I just needed to let off some steam.

Let her feel useful, if you're willing to let go. And if she does something you don't like, you can change it once she leaves.

I'm just looking for the silver lining here. :)

7. I feel your pain, SG
I've had a rough go of it with my mom, my car accident, a fractured spine, a hectic court schedule, legislative changes in my business, depression and the like, but I just keep reminding myself that I've survived much worse and came out better for having survived it.

Hang in there and remind yourself that you can only do what you can do.

As far as the company coming...at least you can have one more night of saying "Fuck it."

BTW..if he has respiratory stuff going on that he had surgery for and still has energy problems, maybe he needs oxygen...have his blood oxygen levels been checked lately?

And, y'know, if I was in your shoes, I'd be sorely tempted to say 'fuck it' and let go of the company cleaning. They're coming to visit YOU, not your house. You've got enough going on.

(I know...easier said than done. I'm guilty of 'company cleaning', too. Every damn time even when I swear I won't do it).

Either that or tactfully suggest that, what with your mom and Mr. SG, this really isn't the best time to visit...say that you want to enjoy their company and you're just so frazzled right now...something like that.

50. I'd go ahead and say, "fuck it." What are you--a maid service?
Edited on Wed Apr-05-06 11:18 PM by BlueIris
Your husband's inability to improve his own health so that he can pull his share of the weight around the home you both share may not be his fault--but it isn't yours either. You have a job and a life and being the breadwinner as well as everything else means you're allowed to let certain things slide. The in-laws can cope. I wouldn't feel bad about it, either. Your company is placing the stress on you by imposing themselves as guests during this stressful time. They can suck it up and deal if the home they're crashing if for a while isn't spic-'n-span because the lady who runs it is managing multiple crises at the moment.

ETA: You can be on my meditation list for money and prosperity.

72. One thing I've noticed about company coming ...
No matter how spotless your house is, it's a mess and full of clutter the second they arrive. Then you get to clean up the whole thing after they leave. Unless you have two-week-old dinner dishes sitting in the sink and dirty underwear strewn across the floor, I vote for "fuck it".

Vent all you want. I hope it gets better for you. :grouphug:
