College football gameday thread
Damn! The season's almost over! Well, the regular season anyway.

Some good games today though. I'm gonna brew up a big batch of shrimp ettouffee, and a side of chicken/sausage jambalaya, plenty of cold beers, fire in the place and watch them all.

The starting QB for Navy is a local guy (DeLand Bulldog)
The starting MLB for Army is too (Spruce Creek Hawks)

My picks for today
NOtre dame over Stanford
Navy big over Army
Oklahoma over Kstate
LSU over georgia, overtime game
Oregon State in an upset over USC
Best game of the day (Late tonight): Boise St. vs Hawaii, I'll take the warriors

2. Notre Dame over Stanford is a LOCK!
er, they played that last week.

Good looking picks otherwise. Hope you're right about Oregon State. It'd be the biggest win for OSU since '67 over McKay's OJ Trojans. As they say, Things that can't last forever, don't.

Maybe today. :-)

Almost gotta go with Hawaii at home. The get the homer calls every time.

But Boise State can really pitch and catch the ol' pigskin. Dinwiddie is the best throwing QB OSU has faced so far, imo. BSU wins.

ND, otherwise known as Dimwit U. is at Syracuse, otherwise known as Sorryexcuse. I hate both of them. Hopefully someone will drop and bomb on the stadium and kill them all, not that I have any pent-up anger or anything.

Navy over Army

OU over KSU by a wide margin

UGA over LSU (best game of the day)

USC over OSU by a wide margin

Boise St-Hawaii - who cares!!

4. Sooners 31 K State 17
Being an OU grad, this season has really been a fun season to follow the Sooners. Yesterday, in USA Today, there was an article that said this OU team could be one of the best ever if they win the remaining two games. Needless to say I'm bias, however, with 7 All Americans, finalists in the Hiesman, Lombardi, Butkus, Groza, Jim Thorpe and Belitnikof(sp) awards it's hard not to think this is one of the best ever.

I also think LSU will win today and should play OU in the Sugar, however, it looks like it might be USC.

BOOOOOOOOOMER SOOOOOOOOONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. OU
I don't see anybody beating OU. LSU is good, but not as good as USC, and I'm a big SEC fan. I don't think they'll beat UGA, but that game will definately be a barn-burner. Wish I could go to the SEC Championship game. Should be electric. I'll be glued to the TV.

10. Michigan-FSU
Michigan couldn't hang with OU. Michigan won't hang with FSU. They'll pass them to smithereens and they're way too quick, but I think that's who they will get in the Rose Bowl.

13. Michigan is being overlooked
they screwed up against Oregon St. and are now paying for it. They should be number two or three in the BCS but what can one do? As for FSU, that would be a good game but I thing Michigan can do more than just hang with them, they'll beat them. Michigan is vry fast this year

14. Actually..
They lost to Oregon, not OSU. Michigan looks fast, compared to other Big 10 teams. But the Big Ten is not a conference of fast players. They're the conference of 6'7" guys with last names that end in "ski" who have one eye in the middle of their forehead. Make great offensive linemen.

FSU played at Michigan around 10 years and absolutely buried them. They were way too quick and matched them in size.

If they play, we'll see.

15. careful now, the Big Ten is tough
I SAY that Ohio St, Michigan and Purdue can play with anybody save Oklahoma. It's still a league of big men and smash mouth football but they have been using more fast attack offenses than before. Best conference top to bottom, in my opinion

thanks for the correction on Oregon, my bad

25. Big Ten good, but not best this year
Michigan could hang with anyone save for Oklahoma.

Ohio State didn't beat a team with a winning record on the road all year. I have a hard time believing they could beat a Georgia, USC, or Florida State on a neutral field.

Purdue is a nice team that really didn't win a huge game either. They are ranked 11 or 12, and that's pretty much right on the money I think.

Bowl games aren't the greatest barometer on who the best conference is, either. Motiviation plays such a big factor, and the month layoff sort of muddles things. Take it from a guy who bets, bowl games are extremely hard to figure out. Strange things happen.

SEC has more quality wins outside their league this year. Georgia blew out Clemson on the road, Tennessee won in the Orange Bowl. Best Big 10 road non-con win is probably Wisconsin winning at West Virginia, and WVU is a much better team now than they were on Aug. 30.

The only question about this game is whether or not OU will hang half-a-hundred on K State. :nopity:

An OU victory would likely put UT in either the Rose or Fiesta Bowl.
