Hawaii Photography (dial-up warning...image intensive)
There are pictures that I took August 2005 while in Hawaii. I've been going through them and printing them out, so I figured I'd share some with you guys.

These two are the sunrise 10,023 feet up on the summit of the Haleakala volcano on Maui.

This is a tidal pool off the back of the condo we stayed in on Maui. I had to scramble down a bunch of lava rock illegally to shoot the tidal pool (there's about 25 total in the series). It would have been easier but I wore flipflops. Amazingly, I didn't hurt myself.

This was taken in Volcano National Park. It's an offering to Pele. Once again, I had to climb out illegally for the sake of photography. The background is actually the bottom of a crater hundreds of feet deep.

This is a shot of the volcano on the big island taken from a helicopter.

Here are a couple shots of flowers/plants (no clue what kind) and a waterfall in the rainforest of the Big Island.

Here's a picture of me on a big game charter boat. I only caught a tan and a buzz. The boat docked next to our's caught a 950lb 13.5' blue marlin.

2. Thanks!
I thought it was Akaka falls, but I couldn't remember off the top of my head. It was rough getting through that park with my family. I like to take my time and get some really nice shots in. They feel that the point is to rush through everything, never stop, so we can see as much as possible. So basically, I spent the whole time cardiovascular hiking. I stop to take a picture, set up the shot, etc. Meanwhile, they continue hauling ass up the hill. I run and catch up only to find something new to take a picture of. I definitely got a workout, but all their pictures came out crappy and blurry.

4. Thank you!
It's definintely an amazing place. I got to snorkel with sea turtles everyday off our backyard when we were on Maui. It's expensive as hell there though. I had the whole trip paid for. My mom got remarried and her new husband took all the kids (his two daughters and son, my sister & me) on the honeymoon like a dysfunctional Brady Bunch. I get along great with his daughters though. My stepbrother is only 12. We called the trip "self-esteem camp" for him...let's face it, 12-year old boy against two 18-year-old girls plus a 21-year-old & a 23-year-old.
