I got stuck on an elevator with a smoker who covered herself in bad perfume. I had to go up to the top floor of this highrise - thought I was either going to puke from the smell or passout from trying to hold my breath

17. I couldn't smell myself when I was a smoker.

I was so immune to the smell of smoke that I could not smell it on my person, my clothes, or my belongings.

I have been a non-smoker since July 1, 1998. I am very sensitive now to the smell of smoke. I was on a treadmill this morning at the gym next to someone who very clearly is a smoker.

I was raised in tobacco country (which I now refer to as The Land That Time Forgot since you can still smoke so many places up there)...and I just hate that stuff. I worked for a long time in an office where every one could smoke at will. My clothes reeked, my hair reeked, and my head was stuffed up all the time. Life is better in a no smoking office...and with plenty of no smoking establishments available.

anyway, the stuff that gets done to and put on the tobacco while it is in the field is cnough to kill you. Lots of lovely toxins and other crap.

Having said all that, I LOVE the smell of the curing barns in the fall. Doesn't smell a thing like a cigarett or cigar or pipe. If the end product smelled like the curing barns, it would be at least bearable.

when you are a smoker, you have NO IDEA how nasty it is and how it permeates everything! but it doesn't take long after you quit to figure it out. i quit one year and three months ago - and now i can smell cigarette smoke from the car in front of me on the freeway!

22. I was shocked today that with the windows up, driving on the highway, I

could smell the pot the guy in front of me was smoking. The smoke poured out of his car and came in my vents- stinky stinky! I'd rather smell cigs over pot any day- they both stink!

I smoke cigs and cannot believe how smelly the world is- when I have quit, i can't even come within two aisles of the detergents in the grocery store, nor a perfumery or a candle store in the mall- It's repulsive! Smells overpower me when I smoke and they about knock me over when I don't. A smell in the mall today was so sickly sweet it made me gag. Had to go have a cig to get rid of it. :puke:
