is it worth investing in CDs, or should I put it into a money market fund?

1. Depends on when you want the money liquid again.

There are some very good rates on 1-year CDs at banks across the country (roughly 5%). But if you need the money before then, you may either have a penalty or you may have to sell the CD at market value--which could be less than what you paid for it if interest rates spike up before you sell.

Money markets are usually paying less than the CD's (approx. 3.5%) but it may be worth it for the liquidity.

It just depends, I guess, on how much money and how long you're planning on parking it.
