Retail Therapy. I bought myself a Bass. Not the fish, mind you.
A Ibanez GSR 200. Its a low-end model but a bit better than the Squire I was interested in.
I used to play some 30+ years ago but have since sold my instruments.
So now let the noise begin!

1. My bass player plays one very similar to that
IIRC it may even be the same model. Does yours have the active electronics?

He's played it for over ten years, and it's a very decent, playable instrument-- AND constructed better than any of the Squires I've seen. It's a very comfortable, easy to play model, and sounds very good, too.

Have fun :toast:

3. I'm not sure what "active electronics" is.
I had a partial amputation to my left hand 12 years ago, so I may have to modify how I play a bit. My pinky is gonr, I have half of my ring finger, 2/3 of my bird finger and the pointer is intact.
So this will be an interesting challenge for me.

5. Do you need a 9-volt batery in the bass for it to work?
"Active electronics" is a fancy-schmancy term for a built-in, battery-powered pre-amp/EQ, basically. Some people love 'em, some hate 'em-- I'm firmly on the fence myself. :)

Sounds like it will be a bit of a struggle but I bet you'll do very well-- especially if you've played before. The great gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt only had use of his pointer and middle finger (the other two were parylized in a fire when he was a child), and he produced some amazing music even though he only had 1/2 the fingers of most guitarists.

Best of luck on your new musical adventure!

7. I read the manual and their is a 9 volt battery.
All that I want to do is play so I have no opinions on this yet.
I've heard of Django Reinhardt but didnt realize that he had those issues. Cool! There is hope.

4. It was either the "Jewel Blue", black or red.
I love blue so I went with that one.

6. It's pretty
I used to have a Kramer guitar that was about that color. I used to have an acoustic as well, but like you I have sold all my instruments. I don't know if I'll ever get back into again. Maybe someday when I have more time.

9. Where are you? We need a bass player
For some inexplicable reason, our drummer keeps coming up with loser bass players who'd rather watch baseball and crash in the rehearsal space...

Nothing but Ibanez axes over here, btw.
