11. Hey Swag...
After hearing a Einsturzende Neubauten song on the radio from their most recent CD, I went to my favorite shop and asked for a copy. The clerk said every three years someone will ask for it, so they only had one copy of an older CD. I decided to pass on that one, since my on-line research suggested that they have changed their sound on the newer recording.

Which CD would you recommend?

Zookeeper

13. Hi.
I haven't heard their most recent stuff, so I'm bad to ask. I did see a remarkable vocal performance by Blixa Bargeld a couple of months ago, but that doesn't count. Maybe someone else will chime in.

I guess for an introduction to the early stuff, Strategies Against Architecture II is the one to go for. A two-disc compilation of representative live and studio material.

The first one I got was Halber Mensch, though, and it still scares the hell out of me, particularly on the title track and on "Yu Gung" which Pussy Galore later had the audacity to cover (very successfully).

What song did you hear on the radio? I don't know for a fact, but I think they branched off into some sort of interesting type of electronica. Did it sound like that to you?

Here's the cover of the one that still scares me very much:

17. Oh, wikipedia says the band is still a going concern.
Anyway, Haus Der Luge had sort of a famous album cover:

19. Oooh! Great cover!
If I remember correctly, the song was something about, "dead friends around the corner." The CD is Perpetumm Mobile.

The D.J. rattled off their name and said, "I'm not going to repeat that." And sounded like he would never play them again (and hasn't, that I can tell).

From what I read on-line, the new CD is supposed to be more "accessible" than their earlier music. When I heard it I loved it instantly, but my first thought wasn't "Electronica."

:) :) :) :) :) That was the most fun I've had all day.

I'm guessing you listened as well. How does that compare to the recordings you're familiar with?

I'm going to buy that thing tomorrow.

Quite different from the earlier stuff, but still quite contemplative and beautiful, albeit in an entirely different way.

on edit: thank you very much!

24. Yes, that is scary screaming.
I like it, although my household wouldn't. "Armenia" calls for earphones and a dark room.

The synthesizer reminded me of an old LP I have, "Dream Theory in Malaya," by Jon Hassell (1981), although "Armenia" is more interesting.
