It's a sad day when your "Fat Day" shirt is too tight around the belly
I haven't worn it for several months, so today I was feeling chubbier than usual because I hogged down last night on some taquitos. I figured I'd toss on the old Fat Day shirt and damned if that sucker was tight around my growing spare tire. I bet I can't even fit the Fat Pants anymore. Wow, if I can't button those I'll probably jump off a bridge.... well, ok, fat floats so that won't work. :)

Gym time. It has to be done. No more being lazy. :)

2. I've actually lost 20 pounds in the last 3 months
working so much and doing manual labor; I'm almost down to my high school football weight which I haven't seen in years. Not bad for turning 43 this week:)

shit I'll be in a wheelchair by then. :)

The only thing I can handle nowadays is lifting weights. I can step in and lift for a few weeks be as strong as ever. My wind, wow, that is another thing altogether. I wrestle around with my little brother from time to time. Just a few seconds has me near death, haha.

Shit, I'm a good 40 pounds heavier than the HS days. Some of it is from lifting and stuff though. Not enough, but some of it. :)

4. I'M IN a wheelchair!
well, I feel like it after working 50 hours this week!:)

My goal is to be in the best shape of my life (more or less) at 45 since high school; I've done so much distruction to my body and should have died a few times in my 20's and early 30's that undoing the damage is paramount to me, especially since I'm also the happiest I've ever been, too.

What kinds of weight to you lift? That's the one thing I haven'r really done much in my life, even when I was playing football...

11. free weights typically
I'm pretty old school. I do machine stuff for certain back movements etc. I believe in brief, intense workouts. I'm very wary of overtraining. I don't like the idea of going in and slinging around a bunch of weights for a few hours and burning yourself out of little or no gain. So I go in and do pretty heavy lifts with low reps. Builds lots of strength and density. I go to failure every time too, outside of warmup lifts, which means I lift until I can lift no more. It's virtually useless to stop before that, well not useless, just not nearly as effective. The key is keeping form and not lifting so heavy that you injure yourself, if you can keep it at a good heavy weight that doesn't put tons of stress on joints etc then failure is the way to go. Usually something you can lift about 8-12 times is safe.

Damn, I a combo of old injuries from sports and lots of drinking whipped my ass in my early 20s, so I know what you mean. You don't realize the damage because in those days you can just shake it off without even thinking about it. Also, I ended up having a health problem in my early twenties that messed with me a little too. I'd get chronic kidney infections, I had to get that fixed, but I could tell athletically all of the above took a toll on me. Not as explosive as I once was, not be any means. I used to move like Kurt Angle does. (delusional lie) :)

for being 40-50 lbs over hs weight and smoking way too much

it's true, women let themselves go when they're in a relationship...and i was doing so good

13. mine usually gets decent
relatively quickly. Nothing compared to my competition days though. A year and a half ago I was swimming every morning and doing some running etc, plus watching my diet for a month and a half and my wind was pretty good. The best it has been in years. Well, it still was nothing compared to how it used to be. I used to be able to wrestle and stuff for hours. I hate to run, but even then, I would run 5 miles pretty hard and not feel too bad. About a mile and a half, which I was running a year and a half ago, was a massive struggle, haha.

Doesn't everybody let themselves go in a relationship? :)

And I am physiologically younger than I have been since I was 32.

Work out. You won't regret it. To get your wind, start out by simply walking. You can work your way up to other things.

6. I have the opposite problem
When I was your age I weighed in around 185 (I'm 6'0" tall). However, when my knee problem developed around the age of 30 I took up bicycling to keep in shape. Riding about 25 miles each day has taken its toll: I cannot keep weight on despite how much I eat and I am now down to 150 lbs.

I tried on my old Marine Corps uniform not too long ago and it did not fit. When I was measured for the uniform at age seventeen I was 190 pounds but now as I'm pushing 50 and weigh about 40 pounds less it is too small.

What was that comment you made about 40-somethings and wheelchairs, eh? :P

12. dude you are a rail
I ride my bike from time to time. I blew my knee out in HS and walked around for 8 years without an ACL, finally I got it reconstructed about 6 years ago. I hate to run though. I prefer swimming and biking when I do actually do something cardiovascular.

You should cut back on riding so much, 25 miles is a lot. Especially everyday. Your body can't compensate for all the burned calories. Obviously you're in shape though. Try maybe like 10 a day or something like that and see how it works out. Then maybe cut down to the 10 miles say... 3 times a week. Or you could just eat a wild boar and a sack of potatoes for breakfast and half a cow for lunch and the rest for dinner. :)

Oh, I'll be the one in the wheelchair. You'll have to come visit and pull me around with your bike, haha.

17. Skinny, yes. But with buns and thighs of steel baby!
I wish I could reduce the time I spend on my bike, but it's an addiction. Better that than booze or something; and, besides I feel like a ten year old again when I'm wheeling around. Such a feeling is wonderful therapy for us old fogies.
I do eat three good, healthy meals per day, but I guess I do consume fewer calories than I burn.

I also like to feel the wind in what remains of my hair.:rofl: Sorry, I like to crack myself up at at times.

If I ever take you for a ride in your wheelchair, hang on because my average speed is about 20-25 mph. Now that would be a Kodak moment!

I saw your pic, you still have hair!

I know what you mean about addictions, I used to be so addicted to sports. More like winning. I would do anything to win. So I would workout constantly. Several hours a day for months on end. It would get wild too. I also once went an entire year without drinking a pop or eating candy. Not once! It didn't seem that hard either.

Yeah, but what happens if I suddenly hit my wheelchair brake? :)

Ummm... face plant, road rash... x(

What would happen if I disabled your brake (without telling you :evilgrin: ) before we departed and I kept looking back at you laughing maniacally as we sped along?

OK, I still have some hair, but I've named my forehead "the line of departure" as it is disappearing rather fast. I'm thinking of getting a perm and going for the Larry Fine look.

14. hell I do
even before I ever had a gut. I just like wearing baggy clothes around the house, kicking back etc. Then I actually had a spare tire sneak up on me, sometimes I get on the ball and wittle the sucker down and then other times I get lazy and leave him alone for a month or two. That's when the fat day clothes come in handy. :)

15. not enough right now
typically I would drink a lot, however, somehow the water in Tucson bothers the hell out of my stomach. Not sure why. So I don't drink as much nowadays and bottled water is too expensive.

Although, I do notice if I keep drinking a steady amount of water for a week or so, I do get a little used to it, so it doesn't bother me much. I just hate starting doing it. One thing is when I workout it definitely reduces how the water effects me. So when I start back up it should help out when I increase my water intake. Unless you think I am BSing, the water makes my Uncle and my brother sick too. It's odd. :)

20. I think it's because
we're from MT and used to drinking different water. I was just thinking I have another friend from MT who doesn't like the water here either. Must just be a different type of bacteria in it or something. It makes me feel bloated and gross all the time.
