3. I saw his last concert at Alpine Valley
in East Troy, WI. He played with Eric Clapton, and the next morning, when I went to the common room in my dorm, I was greeted with the news.

19. I saw him in Jackson, MS, in 1990. It was a kick-ass concert...
one of the five best that I've ever seen.

by his music! But that would be an awesome show!

15. I miss him still
A group of my guy friends and I saw him a couple of years before he died at the Everett Civic Auditorium in Everett, WA. ("In Step" had just been released.) We were in the second row. It was the most amazing show I have ever seen. For those who didn't know, before Stevie Ray Vaughan died in the helicopter crash, he'd gotten off everything. He'd even quit smoking. The vast majority of guys sitting in the row with me were from NA; they brought their keychains with 'em. He could see us from the stage. The more those keychains twirled in the air, the harder he played.

I couldn't hear for three days afterwards. It was worth it.

22. Met him once in a Howard Johnson's.......
in Pittsburgh, PA. A buddy and myself happened in there looking for directions to the Syria Mosque, where he was playing that night. While we were waiting on somebody to help us, he came up to the counter and paid his tab. We chatted for a moment, and explained to him that we were originally coming up to see The Pretenders, but since they had canceled their show (due to the death of their sound-man, we later found out), we were coming to see him play. Really nice fella, and very short.
