Star Jones. Seriously. What happened to her?

She also mentioned that she had a breast lift and said recently, "My breasts are 40 years old, but they think they're 20 now."

She may also have had other surgery.

I'm not making any judgements on how or why she did it. She said she ballooned up over 300 lbs. at her biggest point and was sincerely afraid for her health.

I'll get used to how she looks now. Everybody's face and physical form changes over the years. I'm glad she didn't got the other way (thin to fat) or (fat to anorexic) which are two other modes.

I'm worried about Queen Latifah and Candy Crowley. Wonder if they are healthy.

She dressed well before, and her face was well-proportioned. Now, she looks terrible. She may be thinner and have new boobs. However, her face is elongated and her eyebrows are too high on her head. She used to be fat, but not ugly. Now, she looks like many other celebrities that took plastic surgery too far.

10. I'm not sure if the gastric bypass surgery

necessarily makes you less healthy. I think some folks have it because of obesity related health issues and it probably extends their lives. I had an aunt who died at 53 from an obesity related illness. I wonder if she might be here still if she had the gastric bypass surgery.

As for plastic surgery- I don't like it. I have a family member who has had a few such surgeries and I prefer the way she looked before. But I won't tell her that. It is her body and she seems happier now so who am I to judge?

But JUST having the surgery doesn't make necessarily make you well. It's a tool for people that need it, but I think some people (who aren't morbidly obese) use it as cosmetic surgery. Sharon Osborne comes to mind.

I guess some folks have it out of vanity. I've even considered it for that reason and I'm a 5'10" male who weighs 260. There is a lot of pressure in this society for people to conform to a certain appearance even for men, but probably more so for women.

Weight Loss Surgeries, yet people continue to lump them all under the umbrella of "gastric bypass". I have had Weight Loss Surgery. I am MORE healthy than I was prior to having the operation. I was considered super morbidly obese at 5'4" and 291 lbs. I had the Bilio-Pancreatic Diversion with a Duodenal Switch. (quite a mouthful) My stomach wasn't bypassed, part of it was removed. My stomach is fully functional. Too much to go into on this thread but if you're interested here's a link that explains what I had done. (not MY website, but very informative)

I have had one setback that requires me to have nutritional supplementation via PICC line and TPN. I will finish with that on april 16th.

In just over a year, I've lost 146lbs. I feel and look just fine :)I do not need plastic surgery, fortunately my skin seems to be adapting quite nicely. I'm lucky!

There are many surgeries. Some are more drastic than others, and everyone's experience is different.

My point was that the surger(ies) are taken very lightly by some people. There are advertisements on television here in Washington, advertising clinics as if you can have weight loss surgery over a lunch break and *zap* you're skinny.

in some clinics. I can't believe (yes I can) how many people do NO research, they just KNOW that they want 'gastric bypass' and call up these bariatric centres and off they go. It is so sad. I researched for 3 years before making my decision. A decision I don't regret.

"Assembly line" surgeons tend to have better results than mds who do fewer surgeries because of practice. This does not mean everyone should have the same surgery -- if that is the assembly line you are talking about then we agree.

The best surgeons do lots and lots of surgeries - the same ones repeatedly. Hopefully by the time they get to you they have seen every complication before and know what to do. They tend to be the most rushed and give you the least amount of hand holding but these folks are the best --in general.

to do your research. My surgeon is one of 2 in Michigan who specializes in BPD/DS. Too many people hear about a particular surgery and do no research. I think we do agree.

much weight - extra skin hangs around everywhere and you need plastic surgery. I agree people look better with no plastic surgery while they age. But when it is a health issue and you don't have the choice.. go for it. People do not like to look at extra skin be it on your face or on your ass. I think most morbidly obese people need some form of plastic surgery after successful weight loss.

Sharon Osbourne looks healthy. Carnie Wilson looks healthy. Star JOnes doesn't.

I have no problem with it. Losing a tremendous amout of weight leaves a lot of hanging skin for some folks. This hanging skin becomes a health issue because rashes and skin breakdown can occur in the folds left hanging. There is danger of infection and serious medical problems.

aimed at anyone in particular, but there have been other threads endlessly speculating about current media people and especially the reassignments this week. I have taken part in some of them but not with such vengeance as I have seen.

Star Jones is often the brunt of much gossip about many facets of her life including her looks, her weight gains and losses, her "product placement" wedding, her husband's sexual orientation, etc.

However, upon reflection, I guess you could call this your "opinion" if you prefer that. I understand the difference. No problem for me.
