I was attacked by a little dog, does this mean I'm a bad person?

The other day, I was invited over to a friend's parent's house. She was in the area visiting her parents. I had never been over there before or met her dog. When she opens the door, this dog growls, lunges at my leg, and clutches on with his teeth and nails. Luckily, I was wearing long pants and this dog was small enough not to hurt me before she picked him up. She claimed that he had never attacked anyone before. I have heard that dogs who don't normally attack do this is because the attackee is a bad person or harmful to their human. Do you think this is true?

9. Lemme tell you, my Husky is extremely protective, but smart about it.

Being pack-oriented, Huskies are wise to the idea that their owners have friends. Anyone I greet in the yard or at the door, Elvis considers a friend. I even stopped and greeted the mailman when I first got Elvis, and Elvis is never concerned when he sees him in the yard. But he understands uninvited strangers, too. A utility worker once ignored the DOG sign on my fence and vaulted into the backyard, and was quickly cornered by a menacing growl and brandished teeth.

Elvis is also quite good at sensing fear so he's never had to bite any meter-readers or utility workers, he knows when he's got them cornered that they are scared and he is not, so he just corners them and waits for me.

boy -- you couldn't tell it by my dog.

he once alerted on a burglar trying to break in the house -- by barking at the farthest end of the house away from said burglar -- quite fiercely i might add. really fierce -- so that's where i cheched -- nothing -- not a thing.

next morning i find a broken window -- and outside the window footprints.

which was actually fine -- after the cops got there -- it was kindly explained to me that burglars today are not my parents burglars -- burglars today will just kill the dog -- they expect it.

i decided then and there i didn't need any dog of mine to protect me.

My dog is every much a part of my family as my brother. I'd go Abu Gharib on that crooks ass. Tie him up in a chair and cut his ear off a la Reservoir Dogs.

15. when i was going to college at university of buffalo, I was

living w/my aunt in this ritzy suburb when a bunch on neighborhood kids were throwing rocks at this huskie up the street and poking it with sticks through the fence. Well the huskie said enough is enough and jumped this really tall fence and tore the one kids throat out, killing him. The dof then jumped back over the fence and went to sleep. The cops shot it. Then the kids parents sued the huskies owners. I figured that wasnt right, the dog WAS behind a fence and the kids were thrwoing rocks at it and poking it with sticks. It's a dog....it's gonna act to protect itself. It doesnt have the capacity to think things through (as the kids should have)

Anyway, I never thought of huskies as mean either, even after I heard about the above incident

i met so many really wonderful and funny huskies because i had that one -- i can't believe how smart they are.

that's a very sad story you tell.

in a lot of ways -- i'm often not fond kids and pets together -- much of the time they are fine -- but too many times you get stories like that one.

18. i feel the same way about pitbulls. They are simply

WONDERFUL pets. I have two and swear I'd never get another breed. They just love you so much! These idiots who raise them wrong have given them such a bad name. If you raise a pitbull from a puppy just as you'd raise any other dog, it'll be the greatest pet you could ever have. :)

20. my two pits are such complete babies it makes me laugh to

see ppl cross the street when they come by on a walk. The younger one is so pathetic its painful. If you yell at him, or give him a spank on his behind, he arches his back, tucks his tail between his legs, ears droop down, eyes get HUGE and dilated and he SHAKES like a leaf. Literally shakes like he's freezing to death. Once he even hyperventilated. HOW PATHETIC! I had get in bed and put him under the covers w/me and pet his belly to get him to stop shaking. My mother once yelled at his brother (the older dog...three yrs) for peeing on her shoe (im sure he did it on purpose, he was mad at her) and the little one thought she was yelling at him and he shook so hard my mom had to carry him around like a baby, cooing in his ear until he clamed down. Really a sad, pathetic case. I bought him a spiked collar so he would at least have an air of thoughness to him.

Simply ridiculous.

22. Had a Huskie/Shepherd

She was the sweetest dog. Jessie looked very intimidating but love just about everyone. The only people she would bark at was men in baseball caps and those that smoked pipes. We attributed that to her previous life. We got her when she was about a year old and were told she came from an abusive home. We just figured the asshole who had her smoked a pipe and wore a baseball cap. She never got over that one point. She lived to be 15 1/2. She had the coloring of a german shepherd but the fur and tail of a huskie. One blue eye and one brown eye. She loved my daughter when she first was born and sleep beside the crib. My daughter used to hold on to her when learning to walk and Jessie would look like she was smiling.

The little guy would jump up on my ankle and as soon as I petted him he would always pee. I stopped petting him.

They have this weird sense to detect ppl they perceive as a threat. It doesnt mean youre a bad person, though. Some dogs are just totally wacky. I was hunted down like a small deer when I was 8 by a mastiff. it tackled me and everything. I dont think an 8 yr old can necessarily be considered a bad person

What were you wearing? Was it an outfit of primarily dark clothes? My normally docile (former) Labrador would become agitated around someone who was dressed like a UPS/Fed Ex/USPS employee....or people in hoods.

I used to work in outside sales..going into people's homes to sell floorcovering. I met up with many a dog..large, small and in between. I don't remember one large or medium dog getting nasty..it was always a small dog that would growl. Even in our neighborhood, I have one dog that scares me..and it's a Jack Russell. He'll sneak up on me when I'm gardening. I've learned not to look at him..cause the first time I did, he lunged and nearly got my hand. Meanwhile his owner was standing there telling me he doesn't bite.

IOW..I wouldn't believe her that it's never attacked anyone before.

You should be extremely ashamed of yourself.

I think with years of therapy, and maybe some extremely dangerous medication with serious side effects, there may be some opportunity for treatment of your condition, but to be perfectly honest, I'm not really all that optimistic.

Another possible approach is to exile yourself to an extremely remote region of an extremely remote country, like maybe Krygzystan, or maybe a country with even fewer vowels in its name.

I would also suggest changing your name, doing something to desguise yourself, and possibly learning to speak another language so as to obscure your origins.

26. I've been attacked by a little dog

I went to pet her and she attacked. Left a scar too. Imagine that, attacked by a goddamn chihuahua. I'm an evil person so that may be the cause :evilgrin:
