This funny shit. These homophobic, faux/Christians assholes are up in arms over this.
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/rnr/

Here's one funny post:http://sandiego.craigslist.org/rnr/149406675.html

"Calling on all Christians, Catholics and true believers of Heterosexual relationships only! Help stop the GSGRA (Golden State Gay Rodeo Association) from poisoning Lakeside Rodeo grounds! The 42nd Annual Lakeside Rodeo is April 21st - 23rd. Join me to boycott this rodeo put on by the El Capitan Stadium Association to make a statement that WE DONT WANT GAYS IN LAKESIDE!!! The GSGRA Rodeo is on April 29th, gather up all your friends and show up to boycott this rodeo as well!

At least spread the word! By the way, Ford and Coors are supporting this event... so if you drink Coors, you support Gays. And if you buy a new Ford, some of your money goes directly to Gay organizations."

Heh heh...

Read a couple of the replies from some of the Gay posters. Funny as hell.

Lakeside CA. East San Diego county is one of the most Rednecked areas in CA. This one should be interesting.

Anyone ever been to a Gay Rodeo before?

Don't people have anything better to do
Wouldn't a gay rodeo be just like a normal one except the riders would be gay. People are retarded.

9. It's "Brokeback Mountain"...in real life!! Gasp!!
Give me a huge break. I've never been to a gay rodeo, but then again I've never been to a straight rodeo, either.

It's a gay rodeo. Period. Kinda like the Gay Games aren't part of some sinister agenda. :eyes:

4. Jeebus on a pogo stick!
People need to get a freaking life and stop worrying about this kind of crap. There's a gay rodeo coming to town and you don't like gay rodeos? Then don't effing go to it! Duh!!! You don't see me having a hissy fit and staging a huge boycott/protest every time some religious group holds an event in my town, do you? :eyes:

5. Nor do you throw a hissyfit every time
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 04:10 AM by Heidi
some straight group holds an event in your town. That's because you're a rational human bean, gf. The same cannot be said of the religious extremists (or religious terrorists, to be more precise).

7. Indeed
Maybe I should go protest every time there's a "singles dance" for straight people. That's what these wingnuts would do if there were a similar thing for gays.

11. That's exactly what they are,
when they stand outside of legal women's health care clinics, seeking to terrorize women and threatening their medical privacy. It's what they are when they insist that kids in public schools take a minute of "quiet time," or call for the crowd at a high school football game to stand for an invocation.

Here's the thing: nobody on earth can prevent you from praying if that's what you want to do, because prayer is a thing of the heart and mind. You can do it without moving a muscle or uttering a word. In my estimation, anything beyond the heart and mind thing is a forced public spectacle.

And ya know what? I'm a spiritual person. I pray. But I sure as shootin' would _never_ insist that anyone else do it, just because it's right for _me_.

13. Great to see you, too!
I haven't been around for awhile. Inventing "The Second Liberal Network" is a time consuming process. I'm going seven days a week now and the Head On Radio Network has six shows, for a total of thirty-four hours of programming each week.

Agnes and I recently had to make the decision to pull our kids out of the church they were attending for "Youth Group." The group sent them home with a copy of "Satan's Beatitudes," a catty little re-write of Yeshua's Sermon on the Mount, telling kids that they weren't good enough if they weren't spending all their time at church. Ick!

It sure would be nice, here in the hills and hollers, if we had a Unitarian or United Churches of Christ congregation we could attend. Sadly, though, it's all Baptists and Methodists.

Hope you and CMW are doing well. I imagine Spring in the Alps is a really gorgeous time.

17. Exactly
Their page clearly takes it beyond the standard talking points into clear, unadulterated homophobia where the drift is they are insulted just to have homosexuals existing near them.

Run, Forrest, run! :eyes: What the heck are the religious terrorists so afraid of, I wonder? Sexual orientation isn't contagious, but bigotry sure seems to be. :grr:

21. "Gay" rodeos are just as unwelcome to me as "straight" rodeos.
But I wouldn't try to keep them from happening. I don't have the power or the energy.

And, of course, I wouldn't try to keep a rodeo from happening on the basis of the participants' orienation. That's pretty fricking lame.
